Shropshire Community Health Trust has invested in a comprehensive rollout of CorrMed community bags, purchasing 360 Community Nurse Bags and 90 Medic Backpacks.
The aim of such a big investment is to help transform and enhance how their adult community nursing teams deliver care, and to maximise infection control protocols within their service delivery. The rollout covers all community nursing services, including phlebotomy and end-of-life care teams across 11 sites.
When Community Nurse Managers met CorrMed back in January this year, they had never seen the CorrMed bag range before but were immediately impressed by the quality and practical functionality. They were given internal go-ahead and mobilised an order, leading to deployment beginning in May 2025.
Led by the Trust's Infection Prevention, Education and Advisory Team Nurse and Head of Community Nursing, the rollout will ensure infection prevention standards remain central to operations. This approach reflects the Trust's commitment to patient safety and operational excellence.

Purpose-Built for Community Care
The Community Nurse Bag was developed in partnership with nursing teams from Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust. These frontline professionals identified the need for more efficient supply management during community visits, where traditional storage solutions proved inadequate.
The Medic Backpack is fast becoming the preferred choice for Community End of Life teams. It addresses the critical need for professionals to carry essential medical kit comfortably when larger response bags prove too heavy or bulky.

As with all significant investments, Shropshire will be implementing KPI’s to track their effectiveness and impact. The results will hopefully demonstrate how CorrMed bags transform community healthcare delivery, providing valuable insights for other NHS organisations considering similar investments.
